How much dwelling coverage do I need?
Dwelling coverage should be enough to cover the cost to rebuild your home, not the current market value of your home. The following table can assist you in determining the approximate replacement value of your home using standard or builder grade design and construction materials: Home that are custom or semi-custom in design and construction materials will be significantly higher.

How much liability coverage do I need?
Liability coverage protects you from claims and lawsuits brought against you for bodily injury and property damage caused by an occurrence where coverage applies. Deciding upon the level of coverage depends upon your individual needs and certain factors including the value of your assets and the amount of coverage you can afford. Approximate cost is $10 per year per 100,000 increase in coverage.

What deductible amount should I have?
A deductible is the amount you are responsible for paying before each covered claim is paid by the insurance carrier. Deductibles can come in different dollar amounts, or percentages of your dwelling coverage, or by certain amounts pertaining to a certain type of claim. Most homeowner policies have Standard deductibles of $250, $500 or $1000. The higher the deductible the lower the premium . Approximately a 10-15% savings per increase in deductible.

What about special items like jewelry, antiques, collectibles, furs and antiques?
These items should be insured for replacement amount over the standard policy limits (usually $500 to $1000). You can schedule these items by asking us to add them by endorsement to your policy. An appraisal, or receipt, not more than 3 years old will be required to verify value and description. You can request this endorsement in the comments section.
